Morphology
Shape
Cymbelloid with convex dorsal margin and straight ventral margin, with acutely rounded ends, in larger valves very slightly protracted; frustules rectangular in girdle view.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral.
Striae
Parallel in the central part of the valve, slightly radiate towards the valve ends.
Raphe
Raphe positioned along the ventral margin, in both valves on the same side of the frustule (hantzschioid); the central fibulae appear wider apart.
