Shape
Valves broad lanceolate with cuneate to slightly apiculate ends.

Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.

Raphe
Raphe system running around valve perimeter; fibulae 4 in 10 µm (Ireland population).

Other features
Valve face with 5 prominent undulations.
