To size: To 42mm. Shell Structure: Thin, but robust shell. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Inequilateral, leans to posterior. Tumidity: Flattened. Outline: Obliquely oval, posterior ear much larger than anterior. Anterior ear visible anterior or dorsally.

Sculpture: 30-37 radial ribs with flattened spines. Margin: Crenulated margin – extensions of external radial ribs. Ligament: An elongated triangular ligmament in a resilifer, visible externally. Hinge: Small line of tubercules on hinge line. Pallial Musculature: Pallial line entire. Periostracum: Thin, light tan to yellowish. Colour: Creamy white shell.

Distribution & Ecology

Living in association with Spongosorites coralliophaga in cold-water coral reefs. Restricted to deeper water.
In UK known from Logachev Mound, Rockall Bank in coral rubble at 602m and from the Celtic Sea.
Atlantic Ocean north to Rockall and south to eastern Brazil. Originally described from the coast of Portugal at 1068m. Also reported from St Paul’s Rock, Brazil, and the Caribbean.
