Shape
Valves linear to narrow elliptic with rounded ends, frustules rectangular and bent in girdle view.
Symmetry
Valves isopolar.
Valve
Frustules heterovalvar with concave raphe valve and convex rapheless valve.
Striae
Striae almost parallel or slightly radiate near the valve centre, more radiate towards the apices.
Axial area
Narrow, linear axial area on the raphe valve; narrow, linear axial area near the valve ends, widening slightly towards the valve centre on the rapheless valve.
Central area
A transverse fascia on the raphe valve, absent or slightly elliptical on the rapheless valve.
Raphe
Simple, filiform with straight, slightly expanded proximal raphe ends, and straight terminal raphe fissures.
