Remarks

Wils (1986) designated fig. 82 in Conchological Illustrations as the lectotype for this taxon “for the lack of a type specimen in BMNH” as he had no knowledge of the NMW specimen. Kohn subsequently designated this specimen as the lectotype in 1992.

Type locality later asserted as “Red Sea” by G. B. Sowerby 2nd, 1857 in
Thesaurus Conchyliorum.
