Type locality: Ile d’Utilla (‘Île d’Utilla, République du Honduras’ in the introduction of the paper) [M. Chas. T. Simpson]
Remarks: Ancey (1886b: 246) dedicated the taxon to the collector, ‘Espèce de l’île d’Utilla, que j’ai le plaisir de dédier à mon excellent ami M. Ch. -T. Simpson, son inventeur...’
Type evidence: Ancey (1886b: 245-247) did not indicate a unique type. The NMW lot has an Ancey type label bearing the type locality. Geret’s sales list confirms a type went to Tomlin.
