To size: To 1.8 mm. Shell Structure: Solid for its size. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Slightly inequilateral, beaks just infront of midline. Tumidity: Moderate. Outline: Subcircular, anterior a little narrower than posterior. Contour: Umbos small, faint demarcation of lunule seen under SEM only.

Sculpture: Of numerous regularly spaced concentric bands. SEM indicates faint radial striae over umbonal region. Margin: Inner margin smooth. Ligament: Internal in a shallow resilifer beneath and slightly behind beaks. Hinge: Robust with prominent teeth; RV with a single large posterior lateral, anterior with a prominent lateral separated by a ¬ shaped groove from a vertical ridge (cardinal tooth) that is joined to the dorsal edge; LV with a shallow posterior lateral socket, anterior with a hooked tooth (corresponding to ¬ groove) that is separated from dorsal edge by a groove. Pallial Musculature: Indistinct. Periostracum: Indistinct. Colour: Shell white.

Distribution & Ecology

Sporadic from scattered localities on the western coasts and western approaches in the sublittoral and shallow shelf.
