To size: To 17 mm. Shell Structure: Thin shell. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Inequilateral, beaks towards anterior. Tumidity: Tumid. Outline: Elongated oval.
Sculpture: No sculpture, concentric growth lines. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: Thin band on anterior dorsal margin. Hinge: Edentulous. Pallial Musculature: Anterior adductor much smaller than posterior. Colour: Inside pearly white, external chestnut brown, glossy.
Distribution & Ecology
In native range distributed from North Carolina, through Caribbean and south to Brazil. Associated with seagrass.
In Britain and Ireland it has been found attached to a buoy in Boolakeel, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
