To size: To 17mm. Shell Structure: Solid for size. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Equilateral. Tumidity: Inflated. Outline: Oval, lateral margins gently and evenly curved, ventral margin broadly rounded. Ears prominent. Dorsal margins straight. Dorsal area wide.
Sculpture: About 25-30 radial riblets that normally create marginal crenulations with a total of about 40 riblets and raised striae depending on degree of expression on anterior and posterior lateral areas. The interspace between the two median riblets slightly wider than elsewhere and present as a distinct groove especially over the umbonal area. This groove is represented as an internal radial rib bounded by a narrow groove on either side. Numerous fine concentric striae dissect the apices of the riblets giving a weak scabrous surface.
Var. leviuscula, juveniles lack all radial sculpture except for the median groove/rib; some radial sculpture appears with growth but may never develop fully. Ligament: In a wide triangular resilifer on the cardinal area. Hinge: Hinge plate on either side of resilifer smooth but crenulations present in juveniles.
Var. leviuscula hinge plate smooth in juveniles. Pallial Musculature: Mostly obscure, single subcircular posterior adductor scar visible in some. Periostracum: Thin, obscure. Colour: White.
