To size: To 30mm. Shell Structure: Thin, opaque. Equivalve: Inequivalve, LV a little more convex than RV. Equilateral: Inequilateral, beaks slightly behind midline. Outline: Oblique-suboval, expanded anteriorly; anterior more rounded than posterior. Anterior ears slightly longer than posterior, both rather narrow. Contour: RV anterior ear with a distinct byssal notch and weak ctenolium.
Sculpture: Both valves with co-marginal plications and dense, fine, but distinct radial grooving. RV anterior ear with a few scaly riblets. Colour: Grayish white.
Distribution & Ecology
Free or byssally attached to stones and dead shells. At bathyal and abyssal depths. NE Atlantic south of the Scotland - Greenland Ridge.
